Data Hacker: Reboot

Data Hacker: Reboot looks like a cyber-themed puzzle game, and that is mostly the kind of audience it reaches: people who like deduction, pattern matching, and a little science-fiction dressing. By our assessment, the appeal is in its premise and its hacking-flavoured interface, not in spectacle. That also means the ceiling is modest; these games can become repetitive if the underlying loop is thin, and the name does a lot of the selling before the mechanics do. In play, this sort of title usually lives or dies on whether the puzzles keep changing shape. Compared with bigger puzzle games, it seems more niche and more dependent on the player enjoying the theme itself. It is for someone who wants a compact logic game with a tech skin, and not for anyone hoping for a broad adventure or heavy production values.
