Dark Bestiary

Dark Bestiary sounds like a monster book, and that is pretty close to the feel of the game: it is a dark fantasy RPG about fighting creatures, learning patterns, and building a party or character around that combat. By our assessment, its strength is in the old-school mood of roaming dangerous places and managing encounters carefully. The trade-off is plain enough, since a game like this usually asks for patience with menus, numbers, and repeated fights. In practice it tends to feel deliberate rather than flashy, which is good if you enjoy tactical planning and less good if you want fast spectacle. It sits among small RPGs that care more about systems and atmosphere than cinematic polish. Dark Bestiary is for players who like methodical fantasy combat; anyone looking for a broad story-driven adventure will probably want something else.
