DUCKSIDE

DUCKSIDE immediately reads like a survival sandbox with a joke in the title, and that usually means crafting, gathering, and a world where risk comes from both players and the environment. By our assessment, the joke is part of the pitch, but the game still has to stand on ordinary survival fundamentals: inventory pressure, base building, scavenging, and the grind that comes with staying alive. The upside is the familiar freedom of that genre, where you can wander, hoard, build, or get into trouble in your own way. The downside is just as familiar, because survival sandboxes can become chores if the loop leans too hard on repetition or on other people's chaos. In practice the name suggests something noisy and unserious, yet the genre underneath is usually demanding and time-hungry. DUCKSIDE will appeal more to players who like messy sandbox survival than to anyone looking for a tidy, directed game.
