Cyberia is remembered as a moody first-person adventure with shooting and puzzle work, aimed at players who like a slower, more scripted kind of sci-fi action. By our assessment, its strength is the mix of atmosphere and set-piece design: it tries to make you feel trapped inside a hostile machine world rather than just running through one more corridor. The downside is that it can feel rigid, because this kind of game often gives you narrow routes and less freedom than modern action adventures. In practice that means careful movement, a fair bit of reading the space, and some tolerance for trial and error. Cyberia sits closer to cinematic adventure-gunplay than to open-ended shooters, so it will appeal more to people who enjoy guided tension than constant improvisation.
