Cultist Simulator

Cultist Simulator is a card-driven occult game where the real work is combining rituals, resources, and strange fragments of text into a hidden career path. By our assessment, its best quality is the way it makes discovery feel like decoding a private rulebook, with every action carrying a little mystery and a little risk. The downside is that it is deliberately opaque, so it can be frustrating when the player wants direct instructions or a tidy route through the systems. In practice it means lots of dragging cards around, watching timers, and learning that the interface is part puzzle, part bureaucracy. Compared with more straightforward strategy or narrative games, it is harsher and more abstract, but also far more distinctive. Cultist Simulator sits in the category of games, and that fits because it asks for curiosity, patience, and a tolerance for not knowing everything at once.
