Cult of the Lamb

Cult of the Lamb makes its strongest case in the loop between cozy base-building and grim little raids. By our assessment, it is a roguelite action game for people who like gathering followers, upgrading a cult, and then jumping into short combat runs that feed the whole machine. The art style is a big part of the appeal: cute animal bodies, black humor, and a clean, readable world that keeps the violence from turning muddy. The trade-off is that the base management can start to feel repetitive once the rituals, chores, and upgrades settle into a pattern. In play it has a nice rhythm of tending the camp, then leaving it, then coming back to collect the results, which gives the game a tidy loop instead of one long grind. It sits closer to Hades-like run structure than to a pure management sim, and the mix is still its selling point. It is strongest for players who want systems that talk to each other, and less so for anyone who wants either deep farming or deep combat on its own. The cult theme does a lot of the work, and the game keeps returning to it without losing its pace.
