Crawl

Crawl stands out because every run is built around a weird inversion: one player is the hero, and the others feed the dungeon itself by becoming monsters, traps, and restless spirits. By our assessment, that asymmetric setup is its strongest idea, because it turns local multiplayer into a little argument about control, timing, and who gets to be dangerous next. The downside is that the game needs the right group and the right energy; without that, its cleverness can sit there unused. In play it is fast, noisy, and full of awkward laughs when a plan falls apart and the screen fills with danger from every side. Compared with standard dungeon crawlers, Crawl is less about cooperative progress and more about competitive chaos, which is a big reason it stays memorable. It suits people who want party-style tension with a sharp edge, and it is not the right pick for a quiet solo evening.
