Cortex Command is about placing units, managing a battlefield from above, and watching how quickly a small mistake turns into a mess of body parts and gunfire. By our assessment, its appeal is the physics-led chaos and the way it makes every skirmish feel like a tiny machine breaking apart in real time. The cost is that this same chaos makes it demanding, because the player has to keep track of movement, cover, and timing while the situation keeps collapsing. In practice it feels improvised and awkward in a way that can be fun, especially for people who like systems that misbehave rather than obey. Compared with cleaner tactics games, Cortex Command is rougher, stranger, and less interested in elegance. It is not a gentle strategy game, and the ceiling is limited by how much friction a player is willing to handle.
