The downside is the patience it demands: upgrades take time, and the game is very happy to stretch progress across long stretches of waiting. In practice it feels like a strategy game you check in on, not something you sit through in one long burst. It sits near the top of the mobile base-building and clan-war space, and many later games copied its structure instead of replacing it. The result is durable and readable, but it is strongest for people who like long-term upkeep and weaker for anyone wanting instant payoff.
