Citizens of Earth

Citizens of Earth is a party RPG built around a politician recruiting oddball townspeople into a turn-based team, so the draw is clearly its comedy and its social premise. By our assessment, the game’s real strength is that it treats ordinary citizens as party members, which gives the battles a lighter, stranger tone than the usual fantasy lineup. The downside is familiar for this kind of mid-scale RPG: the joke can carry the first stretch, but the turn-based structure and quest flow still have to do the work once the novelty settles. In practice it means menu-driven fights, recruiting, and a lot of talking between errands. Compared with big-name console RPGs, it is smaller, sillier, and more focused on character gimmicks than on grand systems. Citizens of Earth is best for players who enjoy light role-playing with a comic edge, and less for anyone wanting deep combat or a serious story.
