Cities: Skylines II

Cities: Skylines II asks for patience, planning, and a willingness to spend time inside menus, road layouts, zoning, and budgets. By our assessment, the appeal is the city-builder loop itself: laying out streets, watching districts grow, and trying to keep traffic and services from collapsing under success. Its strength is scale and detail, because the game is built around large, layered systems rather than cute micromanagement. The downside is that this kind of builder can feel slow and fussy, especially when the player wants tidy results quickly; the whole thing lives or dies on how much city-planning work someone enjoys. Compared with SimCity-style city builders, it sits on the more demanding, spreadsheet-friendly side of the genre, and it is less about spectacle than about urban management. Cities: Skylines II is for people who like tuning a machine of roads and services, not for players who want instant, carefree construction, and the road network is where most of the attention goes.
