Chroma Squad

Chroma Squad turns sentai television into a tactics game, and that swap is its best trick. By our assessment, the charm comes from running a small studio side of the fantasy while also fighting on a grid: casting, upgrades, and team management sit beside the bright costumed battles. The downside is that the joke and the structure both rely on a very specific taste for tokusatsu and mission-based strategy, so the game can feel narrow if that world does not land. In practice it moves between planning screens and short fights, with a lot of attention on squad roles and combo timing. Compared with heavier tactics games, it is lighter and more playful, and compared with pure parody it has more mechanical weight. Chroma Squad is a good pick for people who want strategy with costume drama and do not mind that the whole thing is knowingly affectionate about its source material.
