ChineseZodiac

ChineseZodiac sounds like a game that is leaning on a very specific cultural theme, and that immediately narrows both the audience and the design space. By our assessment, the value of something like this is usually in how clearly it turns that theme into mechanics, symbols, or progression rather than treating it as decoration. The downside is that a zodiac-based idea can become repetitive fast if the game only keeps pointing at the same set of signs or animal references. In practice, this kind of project tends to live or die on clarity: if the rules are readable, the theme does real work; if not, it feels like a label with little under it. It sits in the niche end of the game field, closer to thematic puzzle or trivia-style projects than to broad mainstream releases. ChineseZodiac is the kind of title people open out of curiosity about the idea itself, and that curiosity is also where its ceiling sits.
