Chants of Sennaar

Chants of Sennaar is a language-and-logic adventure for players who like piecing meaning together from signs, gestures, and context instead of combat. By our assessment, its strongest trick is the slow pleasure of decoding an invented world one layer at a time, and that gives it a very specific kind of tension. The trade-off is clear: if word puzzles and backtracking do not appeal, the whole thing can feel deliberate rather than brisk. In play, it has the texture of careful note-taking, comparison, and a lot of attention to tiny visual clues. It sits closer to Return of the Obra Dinn or Heaven's Vault than to an action game, with language itself doing the heavy lifting. The pace is patient, and the game asks for concentration more than quick reflexes. There is no obvious filler here; each area wants the player to observe before guessing. The ceiling is set by how much pleasure someone gets from solving a system rather than being carried by story alone.
