Cartel Tycoon

Cartel Tycoon is a management game about building a criminal business from the ground up, and that premise does most of the work. By our assessment, the draw is the subject matter and the way it mixes production chains, territory pressure and organisation management instead of treating the theme as decoration. The limit is that it can feel more like a systems layer than a dramatic story, so if the fantasy of running a cartel is not enough on its own, the rest has to carry a lot. In practice it is a lot of menus, routes and balance decisions, with the theme giving the numbers a sharper edge. Compared with lighter tycoon games, it asks more attention; compared with stronger narrative strategy games, it gives less character work. Cartel Tycoon is for players who want a darker business sim and can live with the slow grind of keeping an illicit machine moving.
