Captain of Industry

Captain of Industry is a factory-builder for people who like belts, pipes, power lines, and long production chains more than combat. By our assessment, it is at its best when a map turns into a careful industrial puzzle: mining, refining, moving parts around, and keeping the whole thing fed without bottlenecks. The downside is the familiar one for the genre, which here means a lot of planning before the payoff and a lot of menus, overlays, and systems to keep in your head. In play it feels methodical and very easy to lose an evening to one more adjustment, one more routing fix, one more upgrade. Compared with lighter city builders it is more about throughput than decoration, and compared with pure logistics games it asks you to think about land, extraction, and growth too. It rewards patience and a taste for tidy systems, but it will feel like work if you mainly want quick building and immediate spectacle.
