Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare pushes hard on spectacle, so the campaign is the part that still matters most: run-and-gun firefights, set-piece missions, space combat, and the series’ usual fast military-shooter rhythm. By our assessment, it is most interesting when it leans into that sci-fi scale and uses the setting to shake up the familiar Call of Duty formula. The downside is the same one that follows most blockbuster shooters: the single-player flow can feel very scripted, and the multiplayer has to compete with other entries that people prefer for different reasons. In practice it is all about moving fast, shooting faster, and being carried from one loud scenario to the next. Compared with the most grounded Call of Duty games, Infinite Warfare is more flamboyant and less immediate. It is the one to try if the space-war angle is the reason you are here, and not if you want the series at its most plain and military.
