CAYNE

CAYNE asks for patience in a way many horror games do not: it wants you to poke through a hostile place, read the space carefully, and sit with the dread instead of sprinting past it. By our assessment, its strength is the bleak atmosphere and the tension of exploration, especially for players who like adventure horror more than combat-led action. The downside is the same design choice that makes it work: the pace is deliberate, and the game leans on unease rather than on constant mechanical variety. In practice that means a lot of looking, listening, and piecing together what a room or corridor is trying to tell you. Compared with louder horror games, it is more about pressure and mood than jumps and spectacle. CAYNE suits players who enjoy slow-burn sci-fi horror and do not mind being made uncomfortable on purpose; people looking for clean action or power fantasy should look elsewhere. It is an adventure game first, and the tension comes from that structure.
