Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel lives on the series’ looser gunplay, loot chase, and loud character chatter, but it also shows how much of Borderlands depends on momentum. By our assessment, it is a solid looter-shooter built for players who enjoy constant weapon drops, co-op chaos, and mission hopping more than a carefully tuned campaign. The low-gravity setting gives movement a different feel, and the laser and cryo weapons add a few fresh textures to the usual Borderlands loop. The downside is that the whole thing can feel like a side trip rather than a big step forward, with humor and repetition carrying more weight than real reinvention. In practice, it is a game of shooting, swapping gear, and chasing better damage numbers while the story stays in the background. Compared with the main Borderlands entries, it is smaller in scale and less essential, but still recognizably part of the same machine. Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel is fine if the appeal is more Borderlands; if the appeal is a new direction, it does not really become that.
