Blasphemous 2

Blasphemous 2 leans harder into responsive combat and platforming than its predecessor, for people who want a bleak 2D action game with precision jumps, brutal bosses, and a heavy religious visual language. By our assessment, it is strongest when it turns every room into a small test of timing and spacing, because the movement is cleaner and the attack feel is sharper than in many gothic action games. The downside is that the mood and ornament can still be so dense that the world feels more impressive than readable at first glance, and players who dislike punishment in action games will feel that quickly. In practice it asks for concentration: knowing when to spend resources, when to back off, and when to trust a narrow landing. It sits in the same grim neighbourhood as Soulslike side-scrollers, but it is very much its own thing in how it uses Spanish Catholic imagery and 2D structure. The name carries the series’ harsh tone plainly, and the sequel number is part of the title, not a promise of softness.
