Blake Stone: Planet Strike

Blake Stone: Planet Strike is remembered mainly as an old-school first-person shooter that asks for fast movement, map sense, and a taste for retro gunplay. By our assessment, its appeal lies in the straightforwardness of that design: corridors, enemies, keys, and the simple pleasure of pushing through them without modern clutter. The trade-off is obvious too, because this kind of game depends on patience with old controls and an appetite for repeated level navigation. In practice it feels brisk, plain, and very much of its era, with the interest coming from route-finding as much as from shooting. It sits near the classic Apogee-style shooters rather than modern story-driven FPS games, and Blake Stone: Planet Strike is mainly for players who like early-PC action and can live with its rough edges.
