Blackwell Deception

Blackwell Deception works because it keeps the detective-and-ghost premise moving with direct point-and-click scene work, which is exactly what many adventure fans come for. By our assessment, its best quality is the mix of story and puzzle solving: you talk, observe, combine clues, and the supernatural angle gives the whole thing a cleaner hook than an ordinary mystery. The downside is that it still belongs to a deliberate adventure style, so the pace depends on reading, wandering, and stopping at puzzles that may not always be obvious. In practice it feels like a dialogue-first investigation with a strong old-school structure, not like a game built around action. It sits near the more traditional end of the genre, alongside other narrative adventures that care more about progression than spectacle. People who like thoughtful mystery chains and a steady chapter-by-chapter feel will find the shape familiar; anyone wanting speed or free-form systems will not. Blackwell Deception is the kind of game where the next step often comes from noticing one small thing and using it in the right room.
