Black Desert

Black Desert asks for patience before it gives back its best ideas: flashy combat, extremely detailed characters, and a huge online world built around grinding, life skills, and systems piled on top of systems. By our assessment, its combat is the thing people notice first, because skills chain quickly and look much sharper than the usual tab-target MMO routine. The trade-off is that the game can feel exhausting, with busy interfaces, heavy gear progression, and a lot of routine work if you want to stay current. In practice it is a game of menus, routes, and repeated tasks wrapped around a very pretty action MMO shell. Compared with more theme-park MMOs, it is less about guided questing and more about long-term accumulation, trading, and progression pressure. It is best for players who enjoy deep systems and grinding for power; it is a poor fit for anyone who wants a tidy, low-maintenance MMO evening.
