Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition works as a cleaned-up way into a classic party-based Infinity Engine role-playing game, especially for players who want the old rules and map-first adventuring without hunting for ancient hardware. By our assessment, its strength is obvious: it preserves the original game’s structure while making it easier to run on modern systems and adding the extra content that came with the enhanced release. The trade-off is equally clear, because this is still an old-school computer RPG with lots of reading, pause-heavy combat, and a pace that assumes patience. In practice it feels deliberate rather than slick, with companions, dialogue choices, inventory management, and tactical pauses doing most of the work. Against newer RPGs it sits closer to a restored classic than a remake, and that matters. It is a good fit for players who want the Baldur's Gate form of Dungeons & Dragons storytelling more than modern convenience, and it is not the right place to look for a fast, streamlined action RPG.
