Bacon May Die

Bacon May Die is happiest when a small screen fills with very physical slapstick: pigs, weapons, wobbling enemies, and a lot of short, messy encounters. By our assessment, its real strength is that it understands how to make a simple action game feel brisk, with easy movement and quick restarts keeping the pace high. The downside is that this kind of comedy brawler can thin out once the joke of the setup is understood, because the systems are built for short bursts rather than deep progression. In practice it plays like a compact arcade brawl, with constant dodging, opportunistic hits, and the odd cartoon exaggeration that keeps the tone light. Compared with larger action games it is less complex and much more disposable, but that is also why it works as a quick pick-up game. Bacon May Die is for players who want a small dose of noisy fighting without a lot of setup, and it does not try to stretch beyond that box. The controls and the pace do the work, not a long list of extras.
