Backrooms: Escape Together

Backrooms: Escape Together leans on the Backrooms idea in the most literal way: uncanny corridors, shared panic, and a cooperative run through a place that is supposed to feel wrong. By our assessment, its main draw is the mood of being lost together, because the setting does a lot of the work before the mechanics even matter. The downside is that this kind of game can run thin if the spaces and scares do not keep changing, since the concept itself is narrow. In practice it is about moving carefully, listening for trouble, and trying not to let the maze turn into routine. Compared with richer horror co-op games, it lives more on premise and atmosphere than on depth, and that keeps the ceiling fairly modest. It is the sort of game people reach for when they want a short, shared scare rather than a long horror system.
