Backrooms Media is built for players who are interested in liminal-horror ideas more than in power curves or combat loops. By our assessment, its appeal comes from the Backrooms concept itself: empty-feeling spaces, surveillance-like media framing, and the uneasy sense of being inside a place that should not feel so familiar. That kind of game can do atmosphere very well, especially if it stays focused on sound, repetition, and spatial disorientation. The downside is that the concept is also crowded, so it has to work harder than a simple horror wrapper to feel distinct. In practice, the tension usually depends on whether the game can keep the player uneasy without becoming shapeless. Backrooms Media sits closer to mood-first horror than to action horror, and the atmosphere has to carry the whole thing.
