BOKURA

BOKURA is the kind of co-op puzzle game that matters only when two people are actually talking, because its whole point is solving things from different viewpoints. By our assessment, that split-perspective idea is the thing it does best: it turns coordination and communication into the main puzzle instead of a side effect. The limitation is equally clear, since the game depends on a partner willing to keep pace and share information; alone, the concept does not really function. In play that means a lot of comparing what each player can see, describing objects, and checking assumptions before moving on. Compared with ordinary puzzle games, BOKURA is more about conversation than neat mechanical systems, and that gives it a sharper social edge. It suits people who enjoy cooperation that is built into the structure rather than added on after the fact.
