Aveyond 3-2: Gates of Night

Aveyond 3-2: Gates of Night is a JRPG-style title that clearly belongs to a longer series, so it is for players who already enjoy party-based fantasy, turn-oriented combat, and lots of story window time. By our assessment, the strength of this kind of game is its comfort: towns, quests, upgrades, and long stretches of roaming with a familiar rule set. The obvious downside is that it can feel old-fashioned if you want faster pacing or a more modern presentation. In practice, games in the Aveyond line tend to be about methodical progress rather than spectacle, and the name itself signals that series identity more than standalone novelty. It sits between indie retro RPGs and broader story adventures, and the numbered middle piece makes it feel like a chapter rather than a fresh beginning. Aveyond 3-2: Gates of Night will suit people who want that chapter-by-chapter fantasy rhythm, not people hunting for a clean entry point.
