Avalon Lords: Dawn Rises points at the classic strategy crowd: people who want armies, bases, and a layer of planning before the fighting starts. The attraction of that kind of game is the sense that position and timing matter, not just raw clicking speed. Its limit is the same one many smaller strategy games hit, because balance, clarity, and campaign variety have to do a lot of work. By our assessment, it sits in the lane of compact real-time or tactical strategy rather than something sprawling and cinematic. In practice that usually means building, moving units, and learning a few efficient patterns. It is the sort of game that can be satisfying when the systems click, and flat when they do not.
