Assault on Arnhem

Assault on Arnhem is a wargame for players who want a historical battle on a map, with movement, combat resolution, and the pressure of a named campaign front. By our assessment, its real strength is clarity of purpose: it tells you exactly what kind of play it wants, and the appeal is in handling the operational choices around a specific military problem. The downside is the usual one for this type of game: it can be dense, dry, and strongly dependent on patience with rules and board-state reading. In practice, that means counters, turn structure, and a lot of thinking before you move. It sits closer to classic hex-and-counter war gaming than to broad strategy fare, and it should be chosen for that very reason.
