Assassin's Creed Origins

Assassin's Creed Origins is the entry that pushed the series toward a bigger action-RPG shape, with a vast Egyptian setting, loot, levels and a more open pace than the earlier stealth-heavy games. By our assessment, it is strongest when it lets a player wander, climb and pick fights across that world, because the setting is the whole point and it is used well. The downside is that this scale brings a familiar grind of side quests, repeated systems and long stretches where the map matters more than the missions. In practice it asks for time and patience more than precision, and it often feels like a large historical playground with a hooded assassin theme wrapped around it. It is for people who want exploration and progression first, not the tightest stealth in the series, and it sits closer to modern action RPGs than the old formula.
