Artisan TD

Artisan TD is for players who like tower defense that stays readable, with towers, lanes and enemy waves doing the usual genre work without a lot of clutter. By our assessment, its main strength is that clarity: good tower defense lives or dies on whether each placement matters, and this kind of game usually understands that. The downside is that the cleaner the lane-based setup, the easier it is for the experience to feel formulaic once the pattern is learned. In practice the pleasure comes from planning before the wave arrives and then watching the map answer back in little bursts of timing. It sits in the more straightforward part of the tower defense field rather than in the heavily experimental side. Artisan TD should please people who want tidy, tactical rounds, and it will not do much for anyone hoping for a strategy game with sprawling systems.
