Aperture Hand Lab

Aperture Hand Lab is a VR hand-tracking showcase first and a game second, meant for people who want to see what the hardware can do with fingers, gestures, and object interaction. By our assessment, its real strength is the way it turns hand presence into a playful set of tests and little interactions, so the controller itself stops being the center of attention. The downside is also built in: as a small demo, it does not have the breadth of a full VR title, and once the novelty of the hand work settles, there is not much more to dig into. In practice it feels like a technical toy with a light Portal-flavoured coat of paint. It sits closer to a demonstration than to a proper adventure, so players looking for story or a long challenge will not find much here. The hand-tracking idea is the point, and Aperture Hand Lab stays narrow on purpose.
