Anomaly: Warzone Earth

Anomaly: Warzone Earth flips the tower-defense idea around and makes the player lead the assault instead of setting the towers. By our assessment, that reversal is its biggest strength, because it turns route planning and unit timing into the whole point of the match. The trade-off is narrowness: once the trick is understood, the structure can feel very procedural, with less room for improvisation than in broader strategy games. In practice it is about reading a lane, choosing a path, and keeping fragile forces moving through hostile fire. It sits between action and strategy rather than living comfortably in either camp, which makes it more memorable than average but also less roomy. Anomaly: Warzone Earth is at its best when that lane-based pressure keeps tightening and the player enjoys solving the route rather than fiddling with a giant system. The whole thing rests on that inversion, and without it there would be far less to talk about.
