American Conquest

American Conquest asks for patience more than flash, because it is a classic real-time strategy game about managing armies, resources, and battlefield pressure in the age of gunpowder. By our assessment, its strongest point is the scale: it likes big engagements and a sense of historical warfare that many newer strategy games trim away. The downside is that this older-school design can feel slow and stubborn, with a lot of unit handling and a style that expects attention to detail. In practice, that means micromanagement, formation management, and a need to keep several things moving at once. American Conquest sits closer to the tougher, more old-fashioned end of strategy than to streamlined modern systems. It will appeal to players who enjoy dense battles and historical flavor, and it will not suit anyone looking for a quick, forgiving campaign.
