Alter World

Alter World asks for patience, because a game with that title usually signals a place where rules, spaces, or reality itself are meant to feel unstable. By our assessment, the appeal of something like Alter World is in exploration and surprise: the player keeps adjusting to strange systems instead of settling into comfort. The downside is that this kind of setup can be opaque, and if the ideas behind it are thin, the whole thing can feel more like a mood than a complete game. In play, that often means slowing down, testing what works, and accepting that clarity may come later than in more straightforward titles. Against standard action or puzzle games, it would stand or fall on how well its oddness is turned into actual play. Alter World is the sort of name that promises a shifted world first and a clean explanation second.
