Alien Swarm

Alien Swarm is a top-down co-op shooter about four-person squads, tight corridors, and holding a line while the aliens pour in from every side. By our assessment, its best trick is the clean, readable teamwork loop: cover a teammate, grab the objective, manage ammo, and stay together or get overrun. The trade-off is that the format is narrow, and once the maps and enemy patterns are familiar, the game leans more on repetition than surprise. In practice it is fast, noisy, and constantly about position, which makes it easy to understand but also easy to exhaust if someone wants more variety. Compared with bigger co-op shooters, it is smaller in scope and more arcade-like in structure. Alien Swarm suits players who want short, focused sessions with friends and do not need a huge campaign; for solo play or long-term novelty, it runs out of room sooner than its best moments suggest.
