Age of History II

Age of History II is a grand strategy game about guiding states through a long map layer of wars, borders, diplomacy, and expansion. By our assessment, it is for people who care more about the map and the rules beneath it than about animation or cinematic drama. Its biggest strength is breadth: there is a lot of strategic room to tinker with alliances, front lines, and the slow pressure of empire-building. The trade-off is that the presentation is very bare, so it can feel like a spreadsheet with flags if someone wants spectacle or a strong historical scene. In use, it is the sort of game that rewards planning, patience, and a tolerance for menus and numbers. Compared with heavier grand strategy titles, it is simpler and more approachable, but also less deep and less atmospheric. По нашей оценке, Age of History II ценится за карту и системность, а не за красоту, и именно этим ограничивается.
