Age of Conquest IV

Age of Conquest IV is a grand-strategy map game about moving armies, taking territory, and managing a campaign rather than watching a story unfold. By our assessment, it gets its appeal from the clear turn-by-turn pressure of old-school conquest play: borders matter, supply and tempo matter, and small decisions can snowball fast. The trade-off is that this kind of game asks for patience with menus, spreadsheets, and a lot of repetition once the novelty of the map wears off. In practice it is about planning, undoing mistakes, and living with attrition, not about quick spectacle. It sits closer to classic strategy on PC than to streamlined modern war games, with a stronger focus on systems than on presentation. Age of Conquest IV will mostly click with players who enjoy methodical empire-building and do not mind a dry interface.
