Age of Barbarian Extended Cut

Age of Barbarian Extended Cut lives in the lane of old-school side-scrolling brawlers with a heavy fantasy skin and a lot of muscle-bound excess. By our assessment, it is strongest when it leans into direct melee brawling, simple progression, and the rude, pulpy energy that fans of rough indie action games usually want. The trade-off is plain: the whole thing is built more for attitude and provocation than for depth, balance, or polish, so the rough edges are part of the package rather than a mistake. In play that means slow, deliberate hitting, a lot of repetition, and the kind of game that expects patience with its awkwardness. It sits closer to niche retro action than to a modern brawler with tight systems, and the name Extended Cut already signals that it is about more of the same rather than reinvention. The rating reflects that it has a clear identity without being broad or refined enough to rise much higher.
