Abyss: The Wraiths of Eden

Abyss: The Wraiths of Eden is the sort of hidden-object adventure that leans on eerie underwater scenery, simple scene scanning, and a slow unfolding of clues. By our assessment, its biggest strength is the atmosphere: the game knows how to make submerged ruins and ghostly imagery do a lot of work with very little motion. The trade-off is that hidden-object design can feel rigid, especially when the player is waiting for the next search screen or puzzle to open up. In practice it is a methodical game of looking closely, clicking carefully, and moving between story beats at a measured pace. Compared with louder adventure games, it sits in the calmer, more puzzle-led corner of the genre. It is for players who like searching scenes and do not mind a deliberate rhythm, and not for anyone expecting action or free-form exploration. Abyss: The Wraiths of Eden keeps its attention on mood and object hunts, and that is exactly the kind of game it is.
