AI: The Somnium Files

AI: The Somnium Files is a detective adventure built for players who enjoy talking to a cast, chasing branching leads, and then dropping into surreal dream sequences to pry answers loose. By our assessment, its most memorable strength is the contrast between grounded investigation and the strange Somnium scenes, which keeps the structure from feeling flat. The downside is that the writing style is deliberately odd and the dream logic can feel arbitrary if you want a cleaner mystery. In practice it plays like a visual novel with puzzles and investigation beats, so most of the work is reading, choosing, and paying attention to details. Against more traditional crime stories, it is louder, stranger, and more willing to be playful about its own setup. That makes AI: The Somnium Files a good fit for people who want a mystery that leans into style as much as deduction, while players looking for plain procedural detective work may bounce off the tone and detours. The branching conversations and Somnium sections do most of the heavy lifting.
