7 Wonders

Among modern board games, 7 Wonders is a well-known example of civilization building through card drafting: players choose a card and pass the rest along, shaping a city and its development. By our assessment, that shared, simultaneous rhythm keeps turns moving while still asking players to weigh resources, science, military strength, and other routes to progress. The neighboring cities matter, so choices involve both building an effective tableau and noticing what others may take. Its compact turns make it a good fit for a group that wants strategy without a long wait between moves. The trade-off is a learning curve around the symbols and the way card effects connect; first-time players may need reminders before the options feel clear. The cards passed around the table are both the available choices and a glimpse of what rivals might be building.
