By our assessment, it is a narrow, technical token rather than a general-purpose coin, so the appeal depends on whether the staking and compound logic around ATOM is actually what the user wants. That same narrowness is also the downside: the name is long, the purpose is specialised, and the token is not trying to be simple money for ordinary use. In practice this sort of asset tends to feel like a piece of DeFi plumbing, with more attention spent on mechanisms than on everyday convenience.
