NEAR Protocol

NEAR Protocol is the better-known name in the NEAR ecosystem, and that already places it among the layer-one blockchain projects people use for smart contracts and dapp activity. By our assessment, its real strength is the ordinary one that matters in this category: it is meant to be a usable base layer rather than a novelty token. The trade-off is also the usual one for base chains, because adoption depends on developers, wallets, bridges, and whether the surrounding network stays active. In practice, that means a protocol like this can feel solid when the ecosystem is busy and rather empty when it is not. Compared with pure meme coins, it has a much clearer job; compared with the biggest established chains, it still has to justify why its stack should be the one people build on. NEAR Protocol is useful exactly where a blockchain needs to be more than a ticker, and less compelling where a simpler, better-known chain already does the same job.
