Merchant sounds like a generic label, but as a cryptocurrency it points to a very specific kind of use: commerce, payments, or tools aimed at sellers rather than traders. By our assessment, that makes it more practical in concept than the joke tokens around it, yet still far from a proven everyday coin. A merchant-facing crypto project has to do hard work in the real world — transactions, settlement, and probably integrations — and that is exactly where many such ideas get heavy. Its strength is the clear target: people who sell things or build payment flows know what the name is trying to do. Its limit is that the name alone tells you almost nothing about adoption, network quality, or whether anyone actually uses it at checkout. In practice it sits in the crowded middle of crypto utility projects, where the idea is easy and the execution is the whole story.
