LUSD yVault is not a coin in the plain sense so much as a yield-bearing wrapper around a stablecoin position, the sort of DeFi product people use when they want their LUSD to do something instead of sit there. By our assessment, that is the interesting part: vault products can automate yield strategies and save users from manually chasing returns across protocols. The trade-off is the usual DeFi one, but sharper here because the layers stack up: smart-contract risk, strategy risk, and dependence on the underlying system all come along for the ride. In practice, a yVault asks for less babysitting than active farming, yet it still needs trust in the protocol and some tolerance for moving parts. Compared with holding LUSD directly, this is the more active choice, and compared with simpler savings products it is more technical and less transparent. The limit is that extra yield never comes free, and the structure itself is part of what you are betting on.
