Drift Staked SOL is for people who want Solana exposure without leaving the staking side of crypto. By our assessment, the attraction is familiar: a staked asset can aim for yield-like returns while still tracking the underlying token closely enough to stay useful in DeFi. The trade-off is just as familiar, because staking adds lockup logic, validator and protocol risk, and dependence on the health of the Solana ecosystem itself. In practice, these tokens can feel cleaner than running raw staking manually, but they also add another layer between the holder and the base asset. That makes Drift Staked SOL more specialized than ordinary SOL and less general than a simple wallet balance. It is a fit for users already comfortable with staking and DeFi wrappers, not for someone who wants the plainest possible way to hold SOL.
