Bridged Wrapped Bitcoin (Scroll) is a bitcoin wrapper for Scroll, meant for people who want BTC exposure inside that layer-two ecosystem. By our assessment, the strength is the same one most bridged assets have: it puts a familiar asset into a network where DeFi tools can actually use it. The downside is also the standard one, because a wrapped bitcoin on a side network adds bridge dependence and another thing to track when moving value around. In practice it is useful, but only as part of Scroll’s own contract world, where the token can be swapped, lent, or posted as collateral. Against native bitcoin it is more pliable and less pristine, which is the basic bargain of the whole category. It is a working wrapper, not a replacement for holding BTC on the base chain.
